Creative CardCam Value Driver
The CardCam, by Creative CardCam Value, looks a little low budget. The design is also very practical. As you will see in the following shots, the case slides open, revealing the lens and viewfinder. This not only looks neat, but offers complete protection while the camera is not in use.
The CardCam, if you remember, features a pop-up lens housing that is without protection. The trade-off with the Logitech is size. The fixed lens housing means that it is much thicker about 3X than the CardCam.
Granted, it's still very slim, so the "protection vs. The Pocket Creative CardCam Value is hard to beat in terms of build quality, and it's much sturdier than the price tag might lead you to believe. The front and back are made of brushed aluminum and are fitted into a white plastic midsection that is tough and inflexible. All of the seams and joints are very nicely made, as you would expect from Logitech.

The sliding case opens with a healthy click and moves very smoothly. The button layout is almost identical to the CardCam's. On the back panel you have two buttons and a small LCD.
On button controls image size x or an interpolated x and image delete. You can delete on Creative CardCam Value or all at once. The other buttons turns the audio off and sets the ten-second timer, a feature the CardCam cannot claim.

The shutter release sits up top, right where it should be. Logitech opted for an internal lithium polymer battery, which provides enough power for "hundreds of shots.
The battery recharges via the USB cable. Logitech opted for bitmap images as opposed to JPEGs.
I found this a strange choice. Bitmaps don't have the compression of JPEGs, but the lens isn't good enough that the difference is appreciable. In fact, many of the CardCam's shots came out better.
Nonetheless, you get a nice amount of storage. On of the few annoying things I found was the inability to delete pictures while using the camera as a generic drive.

To transfer images you can simply open My Computer, select Pocket Digital, and then yank the pics. However, you cannot delete from here. You must disconnect the camera and then delete with the button on the camera. I am used to working with digital cameras and Creative CardCam Value treating the contents as if I were using a drive. I don't understand why the designers would take this route. This is nothing major, but I did find it irksome. As for image quality, the Pocket Digital is roughly on par with the CardCam.
Again, it will not compare favorable with a "real" digital camera, Creative CardCam Value the output looks pretty good.
